Do not expect new detail
Making a small image larger does not create real new detail. It only stretches existing pixels.
Choose dimensions for the destination
Use the largest dimensions the destination will realistically display. A profile image may need only hundreds of pixels, while a full-width website photo may need more. Matching the destination avoids wasting storage and bandwidth on pixels that will never be shown.
Aspect ratio and upscaling
Keep aspect ratio locked to avoid stretching faces and shapes. Disable the no-upscale option only when larger pixel dimensions are required and you accept that no real detail will be added. For print or professional production, start from a higher-resolution source instead.
